In this quest to satisfy the soul's urging, many have abandoned their religious institutions and become "refugees from religion". Others, in recovery from depression, in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction, or from physical, emotional or sexual abuse, have yet to find the spiritual nurturing essential for healing.
